why does the latest version of firefox come with so much spam software? Spent an hour uninstalling most of it. really annoyed. Loyal firefox user.
just downloaded a new version of Firefox and it loaded a heap of background programs that produce stupid pop ups for PC cleanup tools and other nuisance pop-up crap? When did you make the decision to add this crap to your freeware??? Most annoying......

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
- Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
- Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
This is not an official Mozilla website. They provide Firefox which is packaged within their "special downloader".

"Downloadinfo provides in-depth reviews and information about some of the most popular software on the net, from people who know software. Heard about some cool new utility or game, and not sure whether its right for you or not? You've come to the right place-read our review, and if it still sounds like something you want, you can download the installer right from the same page. If you already know all about the software (or don't care) and are just looking to download and install it right away, we've got you covered too (just click the download button). So check out our catalogue of software, and happy reading and downloading!"
"We do not show ads on our website or ask for donations. However, it does get quite pricey (we know, hard to believe) running and maintaining the website, and providing software reviews. Because we need to pay for this somehow, we use special downloaders that might offer you additional software you might be interested in. If you'd like to help support us, and keep annoying ads off of our site, please feel free to do so by accepting the additional software offers. It is optional, so nothing is forced, but we'd appreciate it!"
"If you'd like to see specific software reviewed on our site, or if you'd like to talk about offering your software on our website, please feel free to contact us."
pattywgnowen, How did you find this site as did you honestly believe that was a site run by Mozilla?. The long suspicious looking link should have raised red flags for starters.
Mozilla does not need to host Firefox or any other mozilla.org product at a third-party site.
If you found this link on say a Google search note that it can have Google Ads above the real search results. Those ads unfortunately can lead to dodgy download sites that may or may not be serving the same clean version you get at the official homepage www.mozilla.org https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
edit: Bing search can give a Ad to this same bad download site as somebody else encountered the same site in a Bing search Ad. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1024261
