Restore Last Session Lost - Firefox 36.0.4
Hi and Thanks in Advance.
The Issue is Firefox 36.0.4 hung up and stopped working. I had to restart computer to continue. Firefox usually recovers my last session but in this instance has not. I've searched this support community and followed others advice to find sessionstore.* files to use them to reopen the last session. I've found numerous sessionstore.* files in a number of different folders and sub-folders but they are all a year or more old. None are from this year even!
Additional facts: WINDOWS VISTA Sp2.
Updated to FIREFOX to Version 36.0.4 a week ago. Experienced a previous crash with Firefox 36.0.4 and my last sessions (some research was months old and not opened in the last browsing session) was recovered.
Firefox is set to "When Firefox Starts Show My Windows and Tabs from Last Time".
I request help to recover the last sessions and these tabs, some of which were not opened for more then a month.
Thx

You can check the files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox profile folder. You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Make a backup of all the files in this folder before restarting Firefox. You can copy a file to sessionstore.js in the main Firefox profile folder (parent of sessionstore-backups).
previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully) recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime) recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime) upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)
Thank you for such fast response!
I have opened "Troubleshooting Information > Application Basics Profile Folder > Show Folder"
That button opened: C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ylccokkz.default
In this folder I find “sessionstore1216.js” but it is dated 8 Aug 2013
In that same folder I then open sub-folder “sessionstore-backups” I find only two files “recovery.bak” and “recovery.js” both dated today just a few mintues ago”.
There is another Mozilla user file in this same folder C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1lro51os.default-1415566419287
I don’t know what or who that is as I am the only user on this PC. The files in there are all dated 2014 and the sub-folder “sessionstore-backups” has "Recovery.bak" and "upgrade.js-20141105223254" files but they are all dated 2014.
If I go in the LOCAL subfolder I find similar results:
C:\Users\\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ylccokkz.default C:\Users\\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1lro51os.default-1415566419287
However there are not “sessionstore.*” files here, nor any “sessionstore-backups” sub-folders here.
If I close my current Mozilla Firefox session will that help me? -OR- If I close my Firefox session will that overwrite the files I need to find to reopen the last session I want??

Profiles that you no longer use and that do not have files that have data that you need can be removed from the hard drive in both locations (AppData\Roaming and AppData\Local (Cache)).
I searched for a long time and did not find any recent files as your advised. There was files only 1 minute ago but they did not contain any previous history.
Issue not solved here - unfortunately.
