The proxy server is refusing connections
Suddenly Firefox send me a message as follows: The proxy server is refusing connections Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
- Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
- Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working.
I have a Mac OS X Version 10.8.5 I have deleted and reloaded Firefox at least 20 times but I always get the same message again! I have looked at the Firefox support site for hours on end but could not find an answer to my problem and I have tried to contact Firefox support several times but NOBODY answers. I am sorry to say but Firefox has the worst support system. I wish they would have a better more user-friendly support and “contact us” system. I think that maybe I need a Port number, I have my IP numbers, but I can't find a Port number. It also says in the Firefox message: *Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. I have no idea who my network administrator is or could be. I also called Apple and they could not help me either. I am at the end of my wits. Please can anybody help me to get my Firefox working again?

You can check the connection settings.
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":
I have been on all these links but they are not specific enough. Like I went to Privacy and Firewall etc and I do as it instructs but then the information stops. There is no information of what to do then when you are at the end of the information given. Like how to correct what?
