How do I get rid of multiple accounts?

more options

I am trying to install Thunderbird on a second computer. For some reason, it insisted that my email server was IMAP. I thought that i could uninstall and reinstall, this time specifying that my server is POP. I must have tried this again because I now have three accounts under the same email address. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help - the three accounts with the same email address reappear.

Delete the unwanted accounts.

Select an unwanted account, right-click it, select Settings.

In the pane that appears, go down to the bottom, click "Account Actions", remove the account. Note that you won't be allowed to delete the current default account; you must nominate another as the default first.

Bear in mind that when you delete an account, it will disappear taking away with it the messages stored in it. Copy them to the Local Folders account if you need to keep them.

Zenos: THANK YOU! Simple and effective. Now, if I can get a similar answer to my main problem.... How do I migrate my messages, address book and settings from Thunderbird on my desktop to Thunderbird on my portable notebook? Notebook is running Windows 8, desktop Windows 10, if that means anything.

I downloaded and printed out what I thought was the answer, but I got lost in the discussion of the care and feeding of profiles. If you can come up with a straightforward, step-by-step procedure, as you did for deleting accounts, I will be very grateful.
