When I select Mozilla Firefox Start Page from my bookmarks, I now get Google.

When I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop, I get the Firefox Start Page (which is what I want). But starting yesterday, if I select Firefox Start Page from my bookmarks, I get the google search page. How do I get rid of the Google page in favor of the Firefox?

Could you inspect the bookmark and see what its actual address it? You can right-click it and choose Properties. Then in the second line where it says Location, do you have:

  • about:home -- the address of the internal home page
  • something else

By the way, there is an update available for your Firefox 43. The current version is Firefox 46. You can update now using the steps in this article: Update Firefox to the latest release.

On the other hand, if Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 46.0, you may need to clear an internal setting that is stuck on version 43. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.
