I use a PC and Firefox is my preferred default browser.

BT Sport is virtually unwatchable in Firefox (juddering, buffering, freezing, delay) but plays pretty well (occasional judder) in Internet Explorer. Why? Do I need to alter Firefox settings? Youtube etc play perfectly well in Firefox.

Details of my system are as follows:-

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, 32-bit OS. Internet Explorer 8. Mozilla Firefox 48. Silverlight Plug-in 5.1.50428.0 set on Always Activate. Shockwave Flash 22.0r0 set on Always Activate.

Thanks for any help you can give.

FredMcD answered this question as follows but it has not worked although the problem is indicated as solved:-

"Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

   Clear the Cache and
   Remove Cookies
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe websites. Are there any problems?

Then restart."

Any other ideas please?

Please provide a public link to the video you are haveing the problem.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
