If I delete a folder what happens to the emails inside the folder?

Thunderbird takes so long to download new emails. I am deleting folders of emails to save space in hopes that will make receiving inmail faster. It would be much quicker if I could just delete a folder and have all its contents of emails deleted too. Or do I have to go the very slow route and delete the many emails themselves first before I delete the folder? I have about 200 folders each with many emails in and it will take me forever if I have to delete each email inside each folder, separately.

First, you need to know that deleting e-mails will not make receiving/downloading new e-mails go any faster.

It could be that your Internet connection is slow, or the e-mails you are receiving/downloading contain large photos or other files.

On the subject of deleting e-mails and folders: Deleting a folder will delete all the e-mails in the folder also. Like I said though, that will not increase the speed at which new e-mails are received/downloaded.

If you don't already know it, to speed up Thunderbird in general, you should go through your spam/junk folder and delete old spam e-mails, empty the Trash folder, and Compact Folders.

Spam/Junk folder: Check to make sure that no good e-mails are in the folder, then right-click the folder and choose "Empty Junk".

Then: Thunderbird Menu: File: Empty Trash Thunderbird Menu: File: Compact Folders
