need to restore local folders after disk problems

I had a problem with my disk, and I lost my local folders on Thunderbird. Is there a way that I can get them back? Where are they stored? After my disk issues, I started up thunderbird, and it looked like a clean install. I entered my email providers and got the current emails back, but I had copied many things to the local folders, I still can't seem to find them. I have backed up many things in my AppData directory, but I don't know if I have the local folders. Any help would be appreciated.

The Local Folders account, as its name suggests, is stored locally, usually on your hard disk. If that disk drive has had a problem then it is likely that this data has gone forever. This is why regular backups of a computer are recommended.

It is possible that if your original Local Folders has survived, it is still there but Thunderbird has started using a new one, particularly with your mention of a "clean install".

I would inspect the profile setup and see if there is more than one profile. It may not be possible to use the old profile, particularly if it has been damaged, but it may be possible to copy the old Local Folders file(s) into the new profile.
