disable pocket recommendations
The new quantum interface opens additional tabs, that I NEVER want to see. This happens when I select links, such as for my intranet page, then new pages such as offers for purchasing tickets or making logging in to sites easier, appear. I do not want my browser offering, what in essence, are advertisements.
How do I get rid of this intrusion to my user experience. I tried the solution to turn off the Pocket button (which I never actually saw), but that had no effect.
running windows 8.1

hello, first of all you seem to have an adware extension installed that you should tackle. go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions & remove MapsFrontier 3.1.100 which is a nonsense extension.
as for the article links on the new tab page provided by pocket on a new tab page - you could easily remove them by clicking on the cogwheel icon on the top right of that page...
