I am running Firefox 57.0.1 on Mac High Sierra 10.13.2.

I want to receive web push notification from a half-closed firefox. By saying "half-closed", I mean the firefox window is closed but the process doesn't quit. The firefox icon still appears on Dock, and has a black point under it. Currently, it seems that web push notification doesn't come by default.

Thanks for advanced!

I don't think it is possible to receive notifications when only the main menu bar is visible and no browser window is active since the menu bar is under control of the Mac OS.

Can't you minimize the Firefox window to the Doc?

Note that it is only possible on Mac to make applications work that way. On Windows and Linux you close the browser when you close all open windows.

HI there,

I understand that Firefox is minimized, or have tried to close it and it is still running, and that you are still receiving web push notifications.

To stop the web notifications, Firefox has to be closed completely. This leads me to believe that something is stopping you from closing the program.

You can try to open Firefox and click File > Exit or from Close the Program from the operating System Settings and search for the "Close Programs" option.

If you would like to troubleshoot why Firefox is not closing check out Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix

Hi guigs,

Thanks for your answer!

It seems that I didn't get my question across to you. I mean I *do want* to receive web push notifications from a half-closed Firefox. In fact, notifications *do not* come from a half-closed Firefox as (my) expectation. So I wonder is this the same as how Firefox developers expect to be?
