Bookmarks and History missing
After a browser highjacking I uninstalled firefox. When I tried to reinstalled and restore from an html backup bookmark nothing happened. I tried again with an earlier older version, again nothing happened. Then I just went to a website and tried to "bookmark this page." It says it saved it but when I go to look for it, nothing appears in my bookmarks even after clicking show all bookmarks. When I tried to bookmark the same page it says I can edit this bookmark, but I still do not see a bookmark link. I even tried looking for these "new" bookmarks in my history and nothing is showing in my history either. Oddly though, it remembered my homepage on startup and when I tried to google sites I had bookmarked, the hyperlink is highlighted as having been previously visited. Frustrating I know, any help or tips appreciated for this clearly not too tech savy user.

Was bookmarks saved as HTML or .json ?
Running a outdated and unsupported browser will do that, and again. Please make sure that you are no totally cleaned up : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech :
Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help :
Post in only 1 forum, then wait.
I tried up updating to the newest firefox version and the browser hijacking came back. I installed the malware scanner and it found nothing. Again, like I mentioned earlier I' not too tech savy. Should I uninstall again?
Hi Fyrefaux, Firefox may be importing into and adding bookmarks to the "Other Bookmarks" category, so please take a look there. Anything?
What is "the browser hijacking"?
I seem to be back up for the moment but here is the "highjack" that may or may not come back

Looks like a tech support scam page. If pressing Ctrl+w to close the tab doesn't work, you might need to press Esc a few times or check the box to prevent the site from showing more dialogs before clicking the OK button.
Jscher2000 I did control alt delete to get out of that each time it came up. But when I opened up Firefox again, it didn't come up this time. Hopefully it doesn't come back later. PKShadow I did click through on that malwarebytes link the first time you posted it. I downloaded it and let it scan detected 0 threats, 0 quarantines.

Hi, Ctrl+Alt+Delete would be the last resort, to totally kill Firefox. I'm suggesting if you see scam pages in the future, try to close the tab using Ctrl+w if you can. It overrides some dialogs and not others.
