Hi, you do not need Sync for a single system and it is advised not to use it as data will be lost as it is not meant to function as a backup.

If you have registered for Sync Delete your account using the password and user name you used. Or If you Registered Firefox and made a account long ago besides this one delete that account as it is not needed :

If you on'y have one device, you don't need Sync. What likely happened was you had a Firefox account setup and possibly it logged itself out?

Keep in mind, you can use Firefox accounts to connect with more than just other computers, but smartphones, and other devices as well

I only have a Laptop connected to the internet using Firefox...! I Don't Need Sync but, There it is with a Orange Triangle and an Exclamation Mark in it...! If I Click it, I get a Notice to Sign In to Reconnect to Sync with Two Tabs... Sign In and Remove Account...!

Hi gw1110, it seems there is a lot going on with your Firefox.

(1) You can disconnect your Firefox from your Firefox Account

On the Options page, go to the Firefox Account panel, and click Disconnect. For quick reference:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the left column, click Firefox Account. You should find a Disconnect button on the right side.

(2) Recovering lost bookmarks

I'm not clear on what happened when you went to Help > About Firefox. Did you install an update? Did Firefox suggest you refresh it during the update?

Check the Library

If you call up the Library window ("Show All Bookmarks" or Ctrl+Shift+b), and click around among the Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, and Other Bookmarks using those headings in the left column, can you see your bookmarks there, or just the few that come with a new installation of Firefox?

Restoring a backup

If those are not your bookmarks, you could try restoring a bookmark backup -- this is also done in the Library window. This article has the steps for that: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

If that generates an error message or Firefox doesn't show any available backups, please update us on that. Well, if it works, please update us on that, too.

Also, here's an article with more/other suggestions: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks.

Thanks, as I went ahead and Disconnect Sync...!

As far as the Bookmarks go, They be Gone...! I went into the Menu to Refresh Firefox as it was acting Sluggish...! When it came back, They were Gone...! Every Stinking One of Them...! I have an iCon on the Desktop with some Old Ones from a mishap before, but this time some Important Ones are Gone...! I Hope They are on My Legal Pad hiding...!

So, there aren't any backups in the bookmarkbackups folder to restore?

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore

You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created.

You can recover data from such a saved profile, but be cautious to recover possibly corrupted files.

Note that "Refresh" creates a new default profile with a time stamp appended and tries to recover settings like bookmarks and history and passwords and history and cookies and auto-fill data and tabs from the old profile, but you lose data like installed extensions and other customizations.

The current profile folder will be moved to the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the Desktop.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Do you have the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop? Usually, unless it is interrupted early in the process, Firefox will move your entire profile folder there for possible restoration.

Everything for opening them up that I d/l, My A/V shows suspected Malware inside and aborts the d/l...! I tried opening those with NotePad and WordPad and all I see is Code...! Gonna try NotePad++ in a bit...! Will continue...

Um, please, relax. It's normal that you can't read compressed (lz4) files. Here's the next step.

Use the Restore feature to replace your current bookmarks with the contents of one of the backups. When you open the Restore menu, use the "Choose File" item at the bottom, and point Firefox over to your old data folder to get the file you want to restore.

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

Success?
