My old computer was Windows7 and I always used Firefox with many bookmarks saved. I now have a new Windows 10 computer. By signing into my Firefox acccount can I bring the old bookmarks to my new computer? I didn't specifically save them before but am hoping that my accoount with Firefox automatically saved them and I can noow bring them to my new computer. Please help me. I am old and so stressed. Thank you, Anthony

Dear Wesley,

This afternoon I have my computer savvy technician coming and I will get him to sign into Firefox Sync.....in case I do the wrong thing. I am petrified with the machine which only came last night.

I didn't think last night of bookmarks when the technoiciann was here from Dell to install the new computer and transfer data. I had backed up all data but forgot about the bookmarks.

I will get back to you and let you know how it all goes.

Again, my thanks for your help.

Cheers

Anthony

In some cases, yes you can recover bookmarks from your Firefox Account simply by signing in on your new computer.

However, you must sign in without resetting your password. The data stored on Firefox Sync is automatically erased when you reset your password.

If you still have access to your old computer, you can also try exporting your bookmarks in HTML format and then importing them.

Hope this helps.

Dear Wesley,

I recognise your name. You helped me some time ago to make the scroll bars wider in hotmail/outlook when using Firefox as they are wide in Edge. Your help was greatly appreciated.

I don't have access to my old computer any more and I was looking where to sign in to my firefox which I muiust have done to get to Firefox help as I am certainly logged in on that page.

Is there somewhere I should sign in apart from going to the help forum.

Again, I thank you so much for all your help.

Cheers

Anthony

Glad I was able to help you before! Let's hope I can again this time :)

Your Firefox Account has two main purposes. It can be used to log into other websites (like you do when you access this website) and it can be used with Firefox Sync.

To hopefully sync the data from your old computer onto this new one, you need to sign into Firefox Sync within Firefox. If you open the Firefox settings page, there is the Sync option on the left side. That will give you the option to log into your Firefox Account and sync your data.

NOTE: You may need to go through a confirmation process via email when you sign in.

I have the same problem and have re set the password. I read that this action clears any and all book marks that might have been saved. This is not good. GT

Hi ggteague1! Yes, the password reset does erase your Firefox Sync data. If you reset your account password, any data that was on there is now gone. Sorry.

Once again, many thanks Wesley.
