I have half a screen width of pinned tabs. I want new tabs to open at the extreme right of my unpinned tabs on the right of the screen.
browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent is set to false (bold) and browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent is false (not bold). But new tabs open to the left of the unpinned tabs (ie, to the right of my pinned tabs). This is a total menace and almost a reason for me to abandon Firefox unless I can fix it. Help please. The reason BTW is that the failure to open at the extreme right makes tab management VERY difficult and I often have to remove tabs by closing them manually, rather than "closing tabs to the right". Sorry the image is a bit large when clicked.

Is this about opening links from a pinned tab via a left-click ?
If you left-click a link in a pinned tab then the page is opened in the first unpinned tab. You can middle-click the link with the mouse wheel to open the link at the far right.
Thanks Corel - but sadly on my system, a mousewheel click opens the new tab to the left of my unpinned tabs. I might try uninstalling and reinstalling.
I didn't uninstall but reinstalled over the top. Now version 74.0 though not sure what it was before. But the same issue persists.

There are two browser.tabs.insert prefs that you can both set to false on the about:config page.
- browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = false
- browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
As mentioned in my first post above, both are already set to false. Some other solution is needed - maybe an add-on?
And actually worse than that - when FF puts the new tab next to the pinned tabs it does not load it, meaning that I have to scroll left to view it, maybe having to cross 30 or more unpinned tabs. This will mean that I have to set the two settings to true (unfortunately).
Actually if my problem is not caused by a setting in my system, it would seem to be an issue that Firefox should address urgently.
Later: I have opened another FF window with no pinned tabs and the new tab opens next to the source tab - ie, pretty much the same as it does in the window with pinned tabs.
