SMTP... Desc Office365 (Microsoft) Server Name: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Auth Method: Normal password Connection Security: STARTTLS

It depends on what protocols your Exchange Administrator has allowed. If only Exchange ActiveSync is supported, then you would need an add-on since Thunderbird does not support that protocol natively.
