T Bird inbox locks up when I scroll to a certain e-mail in the inbox. I cannot delete it and when I highlight it, the entire e-mail program locks up and I have to restart the PC. I I do not highlight this e-mail, all other functions work, i.e. delete,move, etc.

What's the antivirus? If you add the TB profile folder as an exception or exclusion, or disable email scanning (the general recommendation) does that allow the message to be deleted? Can you delete it in webmail?
