Unfortunately, that is something ESPN would have to fix.

(I think I read here that there is an add-on that lets you "fix" some content type errors, but I couldn't find it in a quick search.)

That error is caused by an unspecified stylesheet.

I see the same error in the Tools > Error Console, but the page looks fine to me.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB) and do not click Preview after you have attached the image.

This is the first portion of how the web page is displayed. The print job actually extends down five print pages.

Internet Explorer 8 does not have this problem, it renders the site properly.

I know that others have had this problem: the same problem was posted on Tech Support Forum, but the post does not show a resolution. I am attempting to find that post again and will link to it here when I find it.

I just cleared the cache, cookies, form & search this form, browsing and download history. I deleted the entire history of each.

Now http://espn.go.com/mlb/ displays fine.

I have been here before though. The situation comes and goes with that page. If the problem comes back I will post into this problem

I'd also like to mention that all the errors went away except for the stylesheet error. So something about the cache or cookies causes the jquery undefined and espn undefined errors.

One other item, the espn site has a number of data feeds that constantly update the scores of games in progress. Can these updates affect the cache or cookies? Also I put my computer into hibernate with that page still open in the Firefox browser.

I found the tech-support forum post that shows the same problem. There the user was on Windows XP.

You will always get that stylesheet error in the "Tools > Error Console" because that error is caused by an error in the coding of that web page.

You can ignore errors in the "Tools > Error Console".
Those errors are only useful if you develop websites and want to check the HTML/CSS and JavaScript code for errors.
Most errors are code for other browsers like IE or browsers on other platforms or just typos or the result of bad coding.

The problem in your screenshot is caused by a missing or corrupted stylesheet. Extensions or security software that block content can be a cause of such errors.

The display error came back. I left the computer running this morning with a firefox tab set to espn. At the start of the morning, this site displayed fine even refreshing the site, moving to a different page on the site. At noon I returned and as soon as I refreshed the site, the display error was there again.

This time I was more specific on how I fixed it. First I cleared the cookies from espn only. That did not resolve the display.

However clearing the cache then resolved the display, I did nothing else.

So if I understand your post above, then a stylesheet within the cache caused the problem?

If this was a problem with respect to Extensions, why did the problem persist even when accessing espn from Firefox safe mode? My understanding is that all extensions are disabled in safe mode.

If this is a problem with Security software, why did the problem go away by clearing the cache.

Also, I performed at the same time this experiment with IE8. This morning, and when I returned at noon, IE8 did not have any problem with displaying espn content, no action needed. So if it is a Security problem, then it would indicate something with Firefox security, unless the Firefox cache is triggering an action by my firewall, anti virus or OS.

My Firefox security settings are such that all options are selected except "Use a master password" is not selected.

So I have selected "Warn me when sites install add-ons", "Block reported attack sites", "Block reported web forgeries", and "Remember passwords". There are exceptions in two of the options selected, but none are related to espn.

On the encryption side of things, I have both security protocols (TSL, SSL) selected and the browser always prompts me when a server asks for a certificate.

I am not using a proxy.

Again, when the display-error returned the same kind of errors appeared in the Error Console. When I cleared the cache, the errors no longer appeared in the Console, in fact the undefined stylesheet error did not appear.

Now I believe these are Java-library errors. And for some reason, e.g., the browser thinks that JQuery is neither declared nor imported.

I may have found the cause of the display issue.

One of the cache files contains addresses for espn stylesheets, according to the firefox cache map. However when the display issue occurred last I noticed that the reference cache file was not present.

Then I deleted the entire cache and refreshed espn. ESPN displayed correctly and the particular cache file was present in the cache.

Now when I manually delete the specific cache file, the display is then displayed wrong as shown above.

The cache file has an expiration date of 10/18/2010 so why it would be deleted by Windows 7 or Firefox is still a mystery to me.

As a workaround, copy the link to the CSS file that won't display and download it locally. install the web developer toolbar addon (a must have anyway!) and use the CSS menu to load a custom CSS for the web page. pick the CSS you downloaded and voila! fixed.

I'm a latecomer to this issue but after trying all the suggestions above I started going through the old basic turn thing off one by one. When I shutdown my VIPRE Internet Security 2012 followed by the page refresh; the web pages displayed as they should. You might want to try the same thing with your security software. I've restarted VIPRE and so far things are still normal

I had the same liner display in both FireFox 8.0 & IE9 on Win 7 Ultimate
