Is there a known issue running Firefox Mobile on an Archos 43?

When I launch the current beta, it often hangs before it even gets to the throbber screen that says it is loading. If I kill off all other apps and processes, I can get far enough in to surf for a bit. After loading a few pages or working in the preferences for a little while, it freezes up and the watch dog prompts for me to kill it or wait.

Is my Archos 43 just not beefy enough to run this beta? Is there a nightly build series I might try?

It sounds like the Archos 43 might not have enough RAM to run current versions of Firefox. We have plans to reduce Firefox's memory usage, so future versions may run better.

How can I check to see how much RAM Android has available? I have noticed that since I posted this question, I have been able to successfully run it, but not for very long so I suspect you are right. The Archos 43 is due to get an update to FroYo which I believe may help as it is supposed to have improved memory management.
