My Hotmail doesnt even work, I can only see which new emails there are, but all the buttons fail to answer my verocious clicking. In Google Chrome it all works fine.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

• Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Go to Firefox->add-ons--> plugins--> disable any same Java plug-in but with older version.

Restart and retry.

I had the same problem, but no java plugin was visible in add-ons->plugins.

So i first made sure i had the correct java runtime environment, as I use OpenSuse i used yast2 to verify that the jre is installed. I searched for "jre" in package list. I found the actual version to be installed, so the problem wasn't there.

Here i found the way to the solution. Creating a symbolic link which allows firefox to find the jre.

I did as root (command su)

cd /

find . -name "libnpjp2.so"

I found the file here /usr/java/jre1.6.0_26/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so Then creating the actually missing plugins directory using

mkdir /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins

Now closing all Firefox instances.

Finally executing ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_26/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so libnpjp2.so

Everything works fine now as you can verify by checking firefox->add-ons->plugins which shows the activated jre

This is the key: make sure you make a symlink in the plugins directory to jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so (or x86_64 as appropriate). Linking to plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so doesn't work any more.

Best to Ask a new question so we can see what operating system and version of Firefox you are using, and you can provide a little bit more of an explanation of your problem with Java.

Gentlemen, what's the point? Service is DEAD everywhere. Here's my opinion: rant /on. No matter WHAT your operating system or version of Firefox or Java, the good people who run Mozilla FireFox will tempt you with a "bait and switch" incremental or major upgrade which ALWAYS will wipe out some prized add-ons without them giving you the courtesy of informing you in ADVANCE of what will not work, what will fail, and what will crash your new FireFox. It's like they don't even test it except via YOU testing it. EVERY time a new version of FireFox comes out, it's the same old story. It NEVER changes. FireFox might as well be Microsoft. They are SO in LOVE with their cleverness that they really don't CARE how much they inconvenience their users. Making FireFox backwards compatible with add-ons that worked in the LAST incremental upgrade? Who would EVER think of THAT? Oh, heavens NO! How quaint. FireFox Programmers live in a world of academic programming. If they lived in a world of actually USING their product and having to hassle with this mess while NOT being able to buy a ticket or view a PDF or do business, they'd understand. But they are Computer Lab Code Monkeys like all programmers. Think marathon gamers who compile. Average Joe people who actually work and earn a living outside of programming are so...short bus for them. Oh, well. You don't get what you don't pay for. As far as programs, you never even get it if you DO pay for it. rant /off. Off to IHOP. I hope they didn't "upgrade" their menu.
