Hi,

When I started Firefox a Wise Stamp page opened up asking why I was uninstalling their plugin; only I didn't uninstall the plugin. In fact most all of my plugins are being uninstalled on their own without me doing anything?

Why would this happen and how can I keep this from happening in the future so that when I go through the problem of finding and installing them again they don't uninstall on their own?

John

You may need to reset Firefox and install again your extensions. That may work, because Firefox will return to its default state while keeping your data safe.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did you upgrade Firefox to a new version? Some add-ons might no longer be compatible and may have been disabled. However, they usually are not completely removed.

Mozilla occasionally issues a "block" on an add-on when it is known to be a security risk or creates serious stability problems. I'm not sure how to determine whether that particular add-on was blocked, but you could try re-enabling it.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.
