
in what Firefox call their "awesome" bar or address bar the firefox logo is in grey. Should it not be shown in color? How to fix?
In all the examples I have seen, the "Awesome Bar" has a colored Firefox logo followed by the site address. This is below the Open Tab area the line above. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Running Vista. Should it be a colored firefox logo or is it not installed properly?

The screenshot that you are referring to may be from older Firefox versions.
Current Firefox versions show a basic globe (Site Identity Button) for normal http connections and show a padlock for secure connections with no mixed content from an http connection.
You can click that padlock to get more information about a secure connection.
