New tab - how to type in the url after opening new tab?
Working on Firefox 19.0.2 for windows. I have imported the whole firefox profile from previous computer to a new one - after the import one thing got broken:
- when I open a new tab (about:newtab setting) it opens the new tab with the tiles of previously used websites fine but in order to put any address manually in the browser URL I need to click on the browser address bar first -> while on the another machine I see the default setting is that I can type in the Url bar right away after opening the new tab (without need to click the url bar extra)- I hope you you understand what I mean). Any way to restore this functionality?
Thanks in advance

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Type about:config in Address bar and search browser.newtab.url change the value to "about:newtab"
That's not the problem - please read my description of the issue above - the new tab is opening fine. What's not working is that I cannot type in the browser url bar straight away without clicking on it first.

Thanks for your comment cor-el. Issue fixed - after I started in Safe Mode it was working fine - then I started disabling add-ons one at a time to find the offending one -> it was Browser Protect from BIT89.Inc -> don't know where it came from, haven't installed it by myself, maybe it came with some other installation. either way after removing it (it was even installed in Control Panel) the issue is fixed. thank a lot
