I don't like in-private browsing, especially it showing up on each tab. How can I prevent each tab from showing that it's in priviate browsing mode ?
The new version of FF, 20.0.1, now shows that each tab in in private browsing mode. I always start up FF in private browsing mode, so I don't need to have it displayed that each tab is in private browsing mode. I would like to understand how I can have the display removed from my tabs. I can appreciate that folks have come up with something new, but this attempts to solve a problem I don't have and I would like to opt out of it. I have actually downloaded an earlier version of FF because to get rid of this problem. It truly is annoying enough to make me switch browsers if I can't resolve and I love FF. Thanks.

Firefox 20 has made some major changes in this area. If you are automatically in private browsing mode, it could be related to your history setting.
purple Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
If you have Firefox will "Never remember history" that could cause this problem. Change to "Use custom settings for history" and uncheck the box for "Always use private browsing mode".
Hi olafolson, I'm not aware of any built-in way to change the text that appears after the hyphen on the title bar. There have been some extensions developed over the years to change the title bar, but I haven't tested any of them. You could take a look:

Edit: I assume you are using the classic menu bar, as shown in the attached. If you are using the orange Firefox button, the title bar is blank.

See if the following works for you (I have not tried it). Read the information in the gray-shaded box.
