I have been using the latest release (7.1.0.9) of Eudora, and due to multiple problems I am now trying to upgrade to the latest release of Thunderbird. I have around 20 Eudora mailing lists, and a few have hundreds of contacts in them. I cannot figure out how to import these mailing lists into Thunderbird. The Tools=>Import=>Address Books only imports the contacts from the mailing lists into a common list of Nicknames; I lose the individual mailing lists.

Also, in Eudora, for each contact I have info in the Notes section (for example, the organization that they belong to and the date that I added them to my mailing list). The Notes section does not appear to be imported along with the contact.

Because of the hundreds of entries that I have, it would take me many hours if I have to manually recreate my mailing lists and copy and paste all the info from the Notes section of all the entries.

Is there any way I can import the mailing lists and keep the data that is in the Notes section of each entry?

Thanks, Shelly Orloff

It's been over 2 weeks since I posted this question, and still no answer. I don't know if I didn't get an answer because I posted the question incorrectly or if it's because nobody knows the answer, or if it's because nobody has the time to answer, or if it's because the Thunderbird support is non-existent.

If Thunderbird really cannot import Eudora 7.1 mailing lists correctly, does anybody know of a modern email program that can?
