Hi, I recently damaged my old laptop and the insurance paid out for a new one. I had a back up of all my data so was not worried at all. I set up the new machine and installed Thunderbird ready to transfer my profile over. Once installed I copied over all the profile folder from the back up into the new profile TB created when I installed it. When I fired up TB there was no mail or email addresses availalbe, my address book was all there, just noting email related. Then I checked the download report from my back up and found that 5 files had not downloaded as they where not backed up correctly (software issue!!!!).

The files that where not copied over are: h227zkfk.default\extensions.sqlite-journal 227zkfk.default\Mail\Local Folders\Outlook Import.sbd\Outlook.sbd\Deleted Items.sbd\BBS.msf h227zkfk.default\Mail\Local Folders\Outlook Import.sbd\Outlook.sbd\Deleted Items.sbd\E Forged.msf h227zkfk.default\Mail\Local Folders\Outlook Import.sbd\Outlook.sbd\Deleted Items.sbd\Finance.sbd\Accountants.msf h227zkfk.default\Mail\Local Folders\Outlook Import.sbd\Outlook.sbd\Inbox.sbd\360 Auto Design.sbd\Enquiries.sbd\Wheels.msf

I am not a coder or mega techie, but did a bit of reading and the msf files dont seem to be a big problem and as I understand it TB should recreate these when fired up. I think the problem is extensions.sqlite-journal

What can I do to retrieve this???

Thanks in advance. JB.

The file extensions.sqlite-journal deals with extensions. You should be able to delete that without doing any harm. When you restart Thunderbird, it should be re-created.

From this page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders, I got this information: Thunderbird uses *.sbd subdirectories to create a folder hierarchy. So a Local Folders\1\2\xyz folder would be stored as a "xyz." mbox file at Mail\Local Folders\1.sbd\2.sbd\3.sbd . That directory would also have a empty xyz.sbd subdirectory created in preparation for you someday creating a child folder of xyz. Ignore it.

The .sbd file is probably the problem.
