How do I attach an email I received from sender 'A' to an email I am replying to from sender 'B'?

I have emails in my Inbox from sender A and sender B. I want sender B to see the email from sender A. I could simply forward the email from sender A to sender B.

I prefer to reply to sender B's email and attach the email from sender A. It will help with context and integrity of information.

In MS Outlook there are two 'attach' options. 1) Attach file - which you use to attach any type of file other than an email client file. 1) Attach Item - (business card, calendar or other MS Outlook item).

Is there a similar process available in Thunderbird?

Open a new Write message or click on 'Reply' to send reply to sender B.

Then to attach the email from sender A to the email using a simple drag and drop method.

  • In the list locate the email from Sender A
  • Left click and hold down on the email t grab it.
  • Then drag the email over to the Write message and hover over the header area where the FROM and TO email addresses go.
  • A section will appear on the right side of those headers called 'Attachments'.
  • Move into that 'Attachments' area and release the mouse to drop the email into 'Attachments'.

Thank you - that works.

One note: You have to move your 'write' email away from your inbox window. If you don't. the inbox window moves to the front and you can no longer see the header area where the FROM and TO email addresses go.
