I have tried restarting the computer; starting Firefox in safe mode; reinstalling FIrefox; nothing helps.

hi, looking closer at those reports, it looks like it may be caused by external software on the computer. please go into your systems control panel and remove any software labled "Freecorder" or similar or by the publisher "Applian Technologies" or any other toolbars.
