I do not want yet another calendar. I do not want Lightening to be active on my e-mail. I do not want it to mess up my calendar entries. I want it off my e-mail and to stop messing with my calendar reminders etc.

I didn't ask for it and I want it off.

How do I turn it off?

There is a prompt when you updated, asking whether you wanted to use Lightning or not. Perhaps you missed it.

Lightning is an addon. So simply go to tools | addons and remove it.
