Firefox updated Monday to 41.0.1. Tuesday morning, all my bookmarks were gone, but I brought them back using Restore Bookmarks. Today, gone again and restore doesn't work. It says could not restore from backup even though the backup is there saying there are 240 bookmarks in there.

I understand that each time you start Firefox that the bookmarks are not there and the second time there was not a bookmark restore. I do not know exactly what might be causing this. However it may be something that also affects the sessions or saving to the places.sqlite file in the profile.

To determine the root cause, I might suggest to first make a back up of the bookmarks that are recoverable from the bookmark back ups. Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer Then disable each of the extensions one by one. (Safe Mode disables add ons not extensions)
