Hi, I am suddenly been unable to download messages after using Thunderbird for years. I thought it was odd I hadn't gotten any messages so I logged in to webmail at godaddy and I have quite a few sitting there. I tried disabling Norton but that made no difference. I checked the error console and it has these messages:

Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/chrome.manifest'.

Well, Thunderbird has become completely useless to me. Clicking on anything produces no results. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling an older version. No change.

I am on Windows 7. I have 2 godaddy email addresses using pop3. When I click on 'get mail' Thunderbird says "connected to pop.secureserver.net" but the progress bar keeps going back and forth and nothing happens. I rechecked my godaddy email settings and nothing has changed. I checked Norton firewall and Thunderbird is set to have access.

I don't use any add-ons in Thunderbird. Can Firefox add-ons affect Thunderbird?

I hate godaddy webmail. Is there any way I can make Thunderbird work again?

Okay I think I am talking to myself here but in case someone else happens along with this problem. I restarted in safe mode with networking (which I hate doing because it means shutting down multiple projects and going through a lot of trouble) and I also renamed my mail folders to start fresh. I was able to get email doing so. I started back in regular mode and so far have been able to get mail. We'll see if it lasts.

I realized I still have a defunct mail account in Thunderbird that is no longer active; I removed that. Maybe it was causing the difficulty? I don't know but so far so good.

So starting in safe mode and downloading my mail seemed to fix it... until today. Now nothing happens at all when I hit the get mail button.

Does anyone read these? Any chance of some help here?
