I have a number of messages with "7.2.4.4" in the subject line. The Quick Filter will find them but the main "Search" does not. Is this a bug?

I tried it out, Quick filter will filter your opened folder on subject and sender. Filter will filter your opened folder only on sender. Edit /Find /search messages will search subject, sender or body depending on what you tell it to do. (almost)

So your right, set up a search option, save it and use it whenever.
