When I pull down my bookmarks, there is always a double list of my bookmarks one on top of the other. If you delete a bookmark from either the top or bottom list, it will delete both bookmarks ie one from each list

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

Hi. Firefox, went into safe mode but all my command drop downs disappeared in safe mode. So I could not see if it was cleared, but it was still there when I restarted. Tony-PC
