I prefer to send most of my emails in a text format but I have a few templates that require HTML. Currently, I have my default delivery type set to text. I then have to remember to select a delivery type of HTML and text when I use the templates. I don't always remember. Is there a way to set the delivery type of a template. I've tried setting it and saving the template but that didn't work.

why not just use the default both for sending mail and let the recipient decide how they want to view it.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. That is one solution, but I would rather send emails in plain text by default. I guess that I like knowing how they will be rendered on the receiving end, everytime.

Have a look at Tools|Options|Composition|General→Send Options.

Can you associate specific addressee domains with the text vs html decision?

Using this would mean leaving it in HTML mode by default, but it will (supposedly) "demote" an HTML message to plain text where possible.
