Having a problem with cursor freezing so went to task manager and discovered 3 Firefox (32 bit) running. Rebooted. When I opened Firefox. there are three apps of Firefox running, 1 as an app, 2 as background processes. Ended one Backgrouund - no reaction. Ended 2nd background and lost this tab. Is there 1 per window? Used to be there was one per opening of Firefox. There are now 3 again. In the habit of opening multiple windows as there seems to be better performance, especially with closing each window when not in use.

In current Firefox releases is multi-process tabs enabled. This means that see more than one Firefox process running, one process for the main browser process and processes for content processes (set via dom.ipc.processCount). See the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" page under Application Basics: Multiprocess Windows. You may also see plugin-container processes for Flash.

Answered one question: Each opening of a window opens another copy of the Fiefox app. Pleased to see that use of memory is not increasing as a multiple of original use. It is however increasing as I sit here and watch it, doing nothing else except breath.
