Recently I've noticed worthless videos being included on webpages and automatically loading (making my Internet connection very slow) and playing. IE used to have a check box, Play Videos, which you could clear to prevent this. What is the corresponding control on Firefox?

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.

Also look for a player blocker.

I now find that some sites are using Java Script to load a "jwplayer" and have it play a video. If Firefox allows this kind of script injection, it is too insecure for me to use. Is there a way to stop pages from loading and executing remote scripts?

Doesn't work. For example, https://www.thisoldhouse.com/how-to/how-to-repair-rotted-windowsill still loads a video.
