Following the update to 56.0, when the bookmarks sidebar is present, a new blank page opens with the cursor in the bookmarks search field. If the sidebar is not present the cursor is in the address/url field. It used to always open with the cursor in the address/url field. How do I restore the previous behavior?

That is currently not possible. You would have to close the sidebar before closing Firefox.

  • bug 1394207 - When firefox is opened with the sidebar open, the sidebar search box gets/steals focus, not the web page as previously
