What causes the pin tabs to be deleted? Since I save them as bookmarks I can easily recover; faster and easier for me as a "point and click" person, rather than going through through the restoration descriptions.

My question is what does one do to not cause this happen in the first place; not how to restore them when it happens.

Even as pinned tabs they do not show up in HISTORY even after I visit the pinned tabs (typically weather) so I go there frequently i.e. rational for pinned.

Windows 10 -64; Dell 8700; Firefox latest version as of 2017-11-04

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".

  • do not clear the Browsing History
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep

Thank you for your reply. I don't run in permanent private browsing, nor do I clear history or cookies. These are great possibilities as why pinned tabs disappear, but not in my case. Thank you again
