How do I get tabs to open at far right and not next to page where I found them

It's a bit hidden, but Firefox does have a way to do this:

  1. In the address bar, type about:config and press the Enter key.
  2. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
    Click I accept the risk! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. In the search box at the top, type "browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent".
  4. Double-click on the first item that appears in the list to change the value to false.
