I refreshed Firefox this morning and the original issue (slow opening speed for the browser) is now resolved, but I had no idea my bookmarks would go away (among other problems). I have tried two things many articles seem to point to, which are: 1) When I click "Bookmarks" from the file menu, select "show all", then in the dialog box that appears I click "import and back-up", select "restore", I've clicked on several recent dates to restore to a date. No matter which date I choose I receive the message "unable to process the backup file" 2) When I do the same process but instead of selecting a date, I click "restore" and "choose file" and select one of the files from the "old firefox data" folder on my desktop, the same error message occurs ("unable to process the backup file").

What else can I do to fix this?

Hello, type about:profiles in your url bar. Then click on Open Folder, then open Old Firefox Data and drag everything from there into the new profile folder. Then restart Firefox. If this solved your problem, please Mark as Solution.
