Dear All!

In my previous TB I had a POP3 account. As it is not active now, for my newly installed TB I don't want to put it as a normal (POP3) account but just a local folder (with Inbox/Sent/...etc subfolders). How can I solve this problem? (Just copying the content of the former folder from Profiles/Mail/... to Local/.... does not seems as a good way.. :-) Thanks: Peter

Hi Zenos,

thanks for your reply. I did the following: I created a new folder in TB in the Local Folders, say "VLP". Then I closed TB and (using by TC) made a sub folder in Local Folders as "VLP.sbd". Then copied the Inbox and Sent files into this subfolder. Finally I restarted TB.

It took some seconds while TB created its own summary files as Inbox.msf and Sent.msf -> and now it works!!

All the best Peter

Copying that folder seems a good way, to me. I would start out by creating a new empty "host" folder in the new Thunderbird's Local Folders, to act as a placeholder to guide me as to where to paste in the copied folder(s). Then close Thunderbird and inspect its profile in your file system. There will be a new folder with an sbd extension, representing your new empty folder, into which you paste the copy, using your system's file manager.

If the old installation is still available and workable, exporting and importing specific folders using the ImportExportTools addon might be a more comfortable method.
