My Firefox Settings are Set to "Never Check for Updates". However, it automatically updates to the Latest Version after some time. Is it a known issue?

My Firefox Settings are set to:

1) Never Check for Updates 2) Use Background Service to install updates is unchecked

My firefox version is 47.0.1, however, it automatically updates to latest version. I am not sure why it is happening. Can someone please look into the issue and let me know the workaround to fix this issue if it is a known issue.

Thanks, Vijay Gupta

Yes, that can and does happen where Firefox unexpectedly gets updated.

IMO, that "background service" can be used by Mozilla to "force" an update. I remove the two executable files for "updater" from the program files folder when I install a new version of Firefox -- "just in case Mozilla pushes the button".

The "workaround" is just to give in and use the most recent Release version, or the latest ESR version. (Extended Support Release) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to get the official response to this query?
