Feature Request - Global Settings Sync with Mozilla Account
Recently had to reinstall Thunderbird on a new machine and reconnect to my email servers. As a result everything is a blank slate. I am havig to manually reset all of my settings, acocunt data, email filters, span filters, everything.
This request is to add a global sync feature similar to Firefox's sync feature with all settings being synced to the user's mozilla account. Like Firefox, the feature would include the option to designate what settings and data the user would like to have synced.
Some of the settings that could be synced; settings for each email account setup, global settings, local address book, spam and junk mail settings, other email filters. Actuall contents of local directories (emails) would not be synced. Just settings.
Would use the same mozilla account that Firefox uses for simplicity of master account management.
Option to sync contents (emails) stored locally to a cloud storage service of the user's choosing supporting google drive, microsoft onedrive, apple drive, dropbox, apple drive, and other popular cloud services.

How often you would change that data? Once a 2 years?
In case of reinstalling Thunderbird or moving your data, please read this:

Thats just it, I have lost all of that data from 'local' sources. So starting all over again. The whole point is not how often settings changing, but recovery of said settings. A this time I can not even store said data to a cloud service which would make the aformentioned manuall transfer easier, if the data was available to begin with.
And at this time since I am starting from scratch all over 'again'. Settings are changing frequently, notibley the email filters. I am suddenly reminded why I use webmail for the majority of my email. But I have a few addresses where that is not an option.
If the local source is lost due to OS corruption requiering a rebuild or failed hard drive or any number of other reasons, then manually copying the settings from the loacl source is not an option.
I used to have the same issue with Firefox until settings sync was added.
You could just copy over the old profile, from the backup you no doubt have made to guard against data loss.
