Why is firefox deleting my completed files when I remove failed downloads from my download history?

Hi,

So I have recently noticed that a bunch of my files that I know I had have gone missing from my computer. Couldn't work out the cause until today.

I have slow internet and a lot of my files fail to download first try so I re-attempt them until they succeed. However, I just worked out that when I remove a failed download from my history (when I have re-attempted the download and had it succeed) firefox is removing the completed file from my documents folder.

And because of the way firefox is deleting them I can't even recover them from my recycle bin because firefox doesn't send any of these files there.

Is there an option in firefox I can switch on/off to stop firefox from silently deleting my files when I try and clear my download history? Or should I just never clear my download history again?

The failed downloads are the same name as the good download, yes? That is why.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.
