There is a new contact name for an email address. I changed the contact name in my address book, but then Thunderbird changed the contact name on all previous emails. Is there any way for my previous emails from this address to show the previous contact name, and subsequent emails to show the new contact name?

No. It matches email addresses with the data you have in the address book.

I realize it did that. Is there a way to get it to not do this for all past emails?
