Firefox did an automatic update and in the process deleted itself from my computer. When I click on the shortcut I get an error message: The item firefox.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. I rebooted my computer but the program is completely gone. How do I get it and all of my bookmarks, etc. back again? I'm using IE (ugh) to access Mozilla's web site.

Although it's rather odd that Firefox was deleted from your computer, you can simply download it again from the Mozilla website and reinstall it on your computer.

Since your Firefox data is stored in a folder separate from the Firefox installation folder, they should be preserved.

Thanks. That worked fine.

Such a problem can be caused by security software that is blocking the update or is otherwise interfering. Did you try to reboot the computer? The update might still be pending somewhere in AppData\Local
