Dlink video (my home security cameras) requires the use of firefox (or Internet Explorer) and the plugin Uplayer=1.0.2.7.msi. Downloaded a new firefox browser, Followed instructions to load the plugin, the plugin is not loaded. Turned off AVG antivirus, still will not load. Tried 7 times with no luck. Contacted Dlink, they say product no longer supported, suggested I contact you.

Support for NPAPI plugins in Firefox was removed in Firefox 52 back in March 2017. See Why do Java, Silverlight, Adobe Acrobat and other plugins no longer work? for more information.

That's likely why you can't install the plugin, since Adobe Flash Player is the only plugin that Firefox will allow you to install currently.

Maybe try to open the URL of the security cam directly in the player. You can also try to open the URL in other players like VLC.

So, it appears that Firefox can not be used to view my security cameras since it will not support the Uplayer plugin. Since this was the only reason I downloaded Firefox (It doesn't run in Chrome either) there is no need to keep Firefox. Too bad. Live and learn.

Unfortunately, you won't find any modern mainstream browsers that still have support for NPAPI plugins. Those plugins are slow and can have a lot of security issues, so Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge and even Safari have dropped support for it.

So then what is the answer for viewing DLink home security cameras requiring this plugin? I can't seem to view them on Chrome or Edge or IE-11. There should be some way without compromising security. I can't even look at my DLink NVR-202 and playback any video yet I can do it all day long on my Android device and it's security isn't an issue? I would much rather do it on my home computer.

Can you access the camera via its IP address (does it support a HTML interface) ?
