Thunderbird started this morning and had no profile. I re-entered the existing one, same email address etc, but by mistake I selected IMAP instead of POP3. It downloaded the new emails and that is all I can see

I have tried deleting this email account and re-entering it as a POP3 but only get the new emails

The profile folder within %APPDATA/roaming/Thunderbird/profile is many GB in size so I guess the old emails are there. But how do I restore them please?

As an update, a search finds them. So is this just a display setting?
