Hi, As I compose a new message, the spell check tooltip pops up a tooltip of suggestions which sometimes covers the words I am trying to type and is very annoying. [I am getting the problem in this FireFox edit window as well while I am typing this]. Can you advise whether this is a Thunderbird problem or a FireFox problem or a problem in my PC configurations on Windows 10? Turning off Thunderbird check-as-you-type has no effect.

Thanks, So, assuming it must be a Windows 10 issue I found the problem was in the Windows> Typing settings. I had to turn off Hardware Keyboard: Show suggestions as I type

That is not a built-in feature of TB or Firefox. TB only underlines in red, words that are misspelled. You must have some 3rd-party spelling app that works on all text entries.
