With the 89.0 update, the search bar in the center of the Firefox home page no longer works. It refers its input to the address bar. I don't like it doing this. How do I restore its intended function?

Same problem here! I tried the new settings available re: search. One puts an additional search field in the tool bar, but that still leaves the big search box in the middle of the page. The one that is now junk; untype-able.

So how do I either - (a) get rid of the useless search box in the middle of the page or (b) get it functioning again? When I hit "new tab" that is my default page: the big search box. If it doesn't work, what is the point?

By the way, I am not using Google as my default search engine, fwiw.

I am using DuckDuckGo on my laptop and have the same problem. Is there any way to get the centre searchbar working again? Suggested about:conig suggestions do not work for me.
