Everyone hates the look of the update. Why don't updates come with a theme option like the current look?

REGARDING THE APPEARANCE OF FIREFOX GUI AFTER AN UPDATE TO THE NEW RELEASE

Everyone hates the look of the update to 89. We don't seem to have any way to make it look NORMAL again.

Why don't updates come with a working theme option that emulates the previous release?

I have read dozens of complaints and zero simple solutions. ZERO.

I want a simple solution but downgrading to 88 forever is not the simple solution.

I have been using Firefox for a long time. I have promoted it to thousands. If I can't find a suitable solution here soon then I will start using a browser that functions adequately for me. In general, if current development is indifferent to a disruptive visual change to the way that I can view my screen then I no longer intend to use or promote Firefox any longer.

This is a serious and an unacceptable problem for many so think twice before you respond to this if you expect our loyalty.

We ask for an "idiot-proof" solution.

Hi Bob Who, you're speaking to support volunteers here. We can't modify the product itself, but we can refer you to settings, add-ons, and other workarounds to adapt the product more to your liking. Usually.

There are add-on themes that emulate the colors of the previous release's "Default" theme, but they do not add back vertical dividers between the inactive tabs. For example:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/photon-colors/

If you need vertical dividers, I can give you a quick short-term workaround, but a more durable solution will require more work.

Temporary Fix

For testing purposes, there is a preference to switch the tab bar and address bar between new style and old style. This is not expected to continue in Firefox 90, but maybe you want to use it for now.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.enabled and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new style) and false (old style)

Longer Term Community Workaround

This involves setting up a userChrome.css file. I have a rules builder that will get more features throughout the month. By the time the above preference is removed, it should be mature. If you want to take a sneak peek now:

I understand that's not something everyone will be willing to try.
